Kisii: Six Admitted Over Anthrax Outbreak

More cows perished overnight, according to officials, as the disease continues to destroy the region.

Following an anthrax outbreak, at least six patients have been admitted to various health institutions in Bobasi, Kisii county.

The outbreak, which was announced on Thursday, has resulted in an increase in animal deaths, particularly in Sugubo, the epidemic’s epicenter.

Many of those who are sick are alleged to have eaten meat from the cadaver.

County Agriculture Executive Magret Obaga claimed at least ten cows had died by Sunday morning, bringing the total number of fatalities to 13.

More veterinary officers have subsequently been deployed to the area to conduct a free vaccination campaign in order to prevent further deaths.
