Anyang Nyongo to MCAs: Wait for ODM Speaker

Nyong'o said in a statement released on Wednesday that MCAs should wait for election directives from the ODM party.

Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o has warned Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) against accepting bribes in connection with the election of the Speaker of the Kisumu County Assembly.

Nyong’o said in a statement released on Wednesday that MCAs should wait for election directives from the ODM party.

“I am shocked to hear that at a time when the whole Azimio fraternity is still in deep reflection on the way forward after the tragedy we have gone through, a few selfish individuals have forced the assembly into a near frenzy campaign mood, using money shamelessly to buy support, which is embarrassing to the national party leadership,” Nyong’o said.

He stated that a directive to the MCAs, similar to the six-piece voting policy, would be issued soon.

The governor urged MCAs to avoid attending disruptive meetings to discuss the speaker’s position.

“We are going through difficult times, indisciplined and shameless ambition is not a useful asset for the party at this point,” he said.

According to Nyong’o, the meetings will cause discord within the party.
