Archbishop Ole Sapit’s Visit to Catholic Seminary Marks Step Forward in Christian Unity

The Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Kenya, Most Rev. Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit, made a landmark visit to Christ the King Major Seminary (CKMS), underscoring a renewed spirit of ecumenism between the Anglican and Catholic churches.

The visit, hosted by Archbishop Anthony Muheria, brought together seminarians and clergy in a rare display of Christian fraternity.

Archbishop Muheria described the occasion as “a step forward in promoting ecumenism”, praising the Anglican leader’s consistency in speaking out on issues of morality, ethical leadership, and national cohesion.

In an address that drew both reflection and hope, Archbishop Ole Sapit urged future priests to embrace unity of purpose among Christians, regardless of denomination.

“Our common mission as church leaders is to serve and lead by example, embodying the love and truth of Christ,” he said.

He drew lessons from biblical figures including Adam, Abraham, Joseph, Moses, and Jesus Christ, the ultimate example of servant leadership.

The Archbishop also encouraged seminarians to be present where truth and guidance are sought, even in the digital realm, to offer moral clarity in a fast-changing world.

In his vote of thanks, Rev. Fr. Raphael Opondo, Vice Rector of the seminary, said the visit was a reminder that ecumenism is “not merely a concept to be studied, but a faith to be lived.”

The meeting between Archbishops Muheria and Ole Sapit was widely viewed as a symbolic gesture of unity, highlighting shared Christian values at a time when the country grapples with questions of moral leadership and social justice.
