Today, the Archdiocese of Nairobi held the official closing of the Door of Hope at the Holy Family Minor Basilica, with Holy Mass which was presided over by Archbishop Philip Anyolo.

In his homily, the Archbishop reminded the faithful that the Year of Hope finds its most human expression in the family, stating that hope did not begin in palaces, but in the humble home of Nazareth, just as their own homes become the place where faith is lived, especially during Christmas. The Archbishop emphasized that hope grows stronger when it is rooted in family life, and that true hope is the certainty of God’s presence in our midst, remaining strongest even when life feels fragile.
Anyolo affirmed that hope does not end with the closing of a door rather, the mission begins anew in the hearts and homes of the faithful. “The celebration is closed, and the mission begins,” he reminded Christians, calling on families especially the youth to carry forward the fire of the Holy Spirit and to live hope as a daily virtue.
This was the last Sunday of the Year.
