A group of youth armed with sticks and stones raided a political meeting held by Raila Odinga, in Kiambu county’s Githurai market. – By Gerald Gekara.
The group who chanted slogans and declared their support to Deputy President William Ruto clashed with supporters at the market shortly before the opposition leader left the premises.
The group, whos origin remains disputed among netizens, were condemned by the delegation that continued to preach peace and coexistence through the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
However, a clip surfaced hours before Raila’s trip of nominated senator Isaac Mwaura rallying a group of residents in the area against allowing the meeting to happen.
ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna accused the Deputy President’s followers of sponsoring violence.
“This is the only politics @WilliamsRuto knows. Violence is his modus operandi. His militia blocked Gideon Moi in Nandi, he has done it again in Githurai. A man fast running out of lies and increasingly desperate, Ruto will see this country burn if he will be king of the ashes!” Sifuna tweeted.
