Arsenal are set to land England forward Eberechi Eze in a £60m transfer from Crystal Palace, with an agreement in principle already reached.
The 27-year-old, who once featured in Arsenal’s youth ranks, prefers a move back to north London with the Gunners despite Tottenham also pushing hard to sign him. Spurs had even reached an agreement with Palace after 10 days of talks, but the deal was never finalised.
Arsenal are keen to strengthen their attack, especially with Kai Havertz struggling with a knee injury. Mikel Arteta sees Eze as a versatile option to add goals and creativity up front.
Palace boss Oliver Glasner confirmed Eze will still feature in Thursday’s Europa Conference League qualifier against Fredrikstad, alongside Liverpool target Marc Guehi, insisting both remain “committed to the team.”
Eze’s contract release clause — worth £60m plus £8m add-ons — has now expired, but sources say the player is pushing for a move before the September 1 deadline.
Eze scored 14 goals last season, including the winner against Manchester City in the FA Cup final. He joined Palace from QPR for £19.5m in 2020 and is tied to the club until 2027.
