The National Police Service on Saturday joined family members, colleagues and local leaders to lay to rest the late Philip Kipchirchir Tuimur, an Assistant Inspector General of Police, at his home in Kabutie Village, Chesumei Sub-County, Nandi County.
Mr Tuimur died on Saturday, 6 December 2025, after a short illness. He was remembered as a disciplined and principled police officer whose career spanned decades of public service.
Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja was represented at the burial by the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service, Eliud Lagat.
During the ceremony, DIG Lagat conveyed condolence messages from the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen; the Inspector General; the Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service, Gilbert Masengeli; and the Director of Criminal Investigations, Mohamed Amin.

In tributes, Mr Tuimur was eulogised as a devoted family man and a committed servant of the people.
Speakers described him as an officer guided by integrity, courage and a strong sense of accountability, noting his steady judgement and his role in mentoring younger officers within the service. He was also praised for insisting on professionalism and honour in policing.
DIG Lagat was accompanied by several senior officers, including the Director of Training and Research of the Kenya Police Service, David Birech; the Director of Community Policing, Judy Lamet; the Rift Valley Regional Police Commander, Samuel Ndanyi; the Nandi County Police Commander, Samwel Mukuusi; and the Chesumei Sub-County Police Commander, Silas Kiogora.
The burial was also attended by Nandi Governor Stephen Sang, Deputy Governor Yulita Cheruiyot, Nandi County Commissioner Wilberforce Kilonzo and IPOA Commissioner Micah Onyiengo, alongside residents and mourners from across the county.
In a statement, the National Police Service extended its condolences to Mr Tuimur’s family, friends and colleagues, describing his death as a significant loss to the service and the country.
