Andy Byron has officially resigned as CEO of Astronomer, the DataOps tech firm he led, following a workplace affair scandal involving fellow executive Kristin Cabot.
The company confirmed Byron’s departure in a statement to Page Six on Saturday, citing a breach of its leadership standards and company values.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met,” the company said.
“Andy Byron has tendered his resignation, and the Board of Directors has accepted. The Board will begin a search for our next Chief Executive as Cofounder and Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”
The statement, which did not mention Cabot’s current status, reaffirmed Astronomer’s commitment to its clients and mission.
“Before this week, we were known as a pioneer in the DataOps space, helping data teams power everything from modern analytics to production AI,” the company said, adding that its work continues despite the public scrutiny.
Byron’s resignation comes less than 24 hours after both he and Cabot were placed on administrative leave pending an internal investigation.
Reports of their relationship sparked widespread attention on social media and within tech circles, raising questions about professional boundaries and executive conduct in corporate America.
Astronomer, known for its work with Apache Airflow and enterprise-level AI integrations, now faces the challenge of navigating a reputational storm while maintaining stability in its leadership and client services.
