Atwoli asks Malava residents to elect one of Malulu Injendi’s sons as MP

Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has urged the residents of Malava constituency to elect one of the late Malulu Injendi’s sons to take over from their father.

Speaking on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, during Injendi’s burial ceremony in Lugusi village in Malava, Kakamega County, Atwoli argued that the late MP’s sons qualify to fill the position left by their father.

The veteran trade unionist urged the residents to consult Injendi’s widow so that she can identify for them one son, who will vie in the by-elections once the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is put in place to conduct the elections.

Atwoli further told the Malava constituents that his wish was to see one of the deceased lawmaker’s sons assume the parliamentary role to complete the good work their father was doing for the residents.

“I want to tell you as a community, and I want to touch on Injendi’s sons. And these children qualify enough, Isn’t it so? Should I have been a Kabras, or people from Kabaras if you are thinking what I am thinking, you could have asked Malulu Injendi’s wife to give you one of the sons to serve and complete the years Injendi was left with in parliament. Will you do so? That is where we are, and that is where Mzee Atwoli is. Bring him to me very fast,” Atwoli said in the Luhya dialect, amid cheers from mourners present.

Atwoli also heaped praises on the late MP, noting that he was a respected leader whose legacy will leave on.
