On Sunday morning, a police officer assigned to the Awendo police station was detained for fatally shooting his colleague within the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit armoury area in Awendo Sub County.
Sulubu, the suspect, is accused of murdering his coworker Elijah with an AK-47 at 6 a.m. on February 19, 2023.
The suspect, a constable, was returning his firearm to the armoury after a night off duty when he fired the trigger on his colleague, according to Suna East sub-county police commander Hesau Ochorokodi, who is standing in for the county police commander.
According to Ochorokodi, the bullet entered the right side of the chest and exited through the left rib.
Mr.Ochorokodi stated that the accused was arrested shortly after the shooting in his home and is being held at the Migori police station for further investigations and arraignment in court.
