Transporters SACCOs and the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to guarantee axle load compliance.
Manager of the Athi River Weigh bridge Willie Thuku claimed that the agreement was made at a Kiserian sensitization meeting with Transporters Sacco.
In order to safeguard road assets, he claimed that the Transporters Sacco had agreed to voluntary compliance with axle load limits.

Michael Ngala, an axle load engineer and assistant director for KeNHA, praised the Kiserian Sacco for signing the MOU.
“KeNHA encourages voluntary compliance to stipulated axle load rules for purposes of protecting Kenyan roads”, Ngala said.
He said truck overloading was the major cause of road accidents in Kenya and said KeNHA has partnered with NTSA to curb overloading.
“We are ceased of the need to stop overloading on Kenyan roads to protect road assets and stop accidents”, Ngala said.
