The Directorate of Criminal Investigations has initiated Inquiries into acts of violence that were committed by criminals during the Azimio demonstrations staged on March 20, 2023.
Criminals who took advantage of the protests were caught on tape trashing public property, assaulting innocent members of the public, and hurling projectiles at police officers who were safeguarding life and property.
According to the Police, property of unknown value was damaged, and 33 officers were injured to varying degrees, with some still recovering at various hospitals throughout the city.
A firearm whose magazine was loaded with 15 rounds of 9mm calibre was also lost by one of our officers after he was attacked by a gang of a well-coordinated riotous mob
The Directorate is presently on the lookout for the individuals whose photographs are shown, while more are being gathered and will be updated, who will face charges ranging from robbery with violence, malicious damage to public property, and assault, among other allied offences.
Alternatively, the suspects are asked to report to the Serious Crimes Unit at DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road or their nearest police station before the end of business today for further action.
