The government has increased security at Uhuru Kenyatta’s rural home in Ichaweri, Gatundu South Constituency, just days after his family-owned property was raided by goons.
A total of 30 officers have been deployed to keep watch and ward off any criminal elements, according to Gatundu South sub-county police commander Jonathan Koech.
The same security measures were observed at Narc-Kenya party leader Martha Karua’s rural home.
Police were stationed outside Karua’s home in Kimunye, Gichugu Constituency, Kirinyaga County, on Thursday morning. Business in the surrounding areas continued as usual.
The increased security at the former President’s home follows an invasion of one of his properties on Monday, March 27 during anti-government protests.
Northlands City, a Kenyatta family property located along the Eastern Bypass in Ruiru, was invaded by unknown individuals who cut down trees and fled with livestock.
The invaders would later subdivide the land and construct semi-permanent structures within.
Police officers were nowhere to be seen as goons attacked Kenyatta’s farm until 24 hours later.
This sparked outrage, with police being blamed for failing to protect the former Head of State’s property.
President William Ruto stated on Tuesday that he will protect everyone’s life, property, and business.
“That is what makes us equal. Nobody should trample on the rights of others,” said the Head of State.
