Despite being invited, members of the Nairobi County Assembly affiliated with Azimio snubbed Governor Johnson Sakaja’s inauguration ceremony on Thursday.
Ward representatives led by Makongeni MCA Peter Imwatok stated that they avoided the event on purpose after discovering that President-elect William Ruto would be present.
“From the invitations we received we were not told he (Ruto) will be present,” he said.
However, Imwatok clarified that they don’t have any issue with Sakaja since their candidate Polycarp Igathe conceded defeat.
“We have no problem with the governor but as it currently stands in the presidency, we can’t share a podium with Ruto,” Imwatok said.
