Police have sealed off all roads leading to the president’s official residence, the State House, in the capital, Nairobi, ahead of planned protests.
This comes after opposition leaders said they are planning to lead their supporters to the state house to protest against what they call an illegitimate government and the high cost of living.
Police have also been rounding up people in the city centre.
It appears the aim is to prevent the demonstrators from gathering.
