Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love and generosity he received from Kenyans on his birthday, coinciding with Mazingira Day.
The outspoken lawmaker took to social media to share his appreciation, revealing that well-wishers had sent him a remarkable Sh370,000 in birthday gifts via Mpesa.
In a warm message posted online, Owino acknowledged the significant contributions from his supporters but urged them to refrain from sending more funds.
“A big thank you to all Kenyans who are sending me Mpesa for my Birthday today. We are at 370K so far. I suggest you stop please, hiyo pesa wacha ikushikilie mahali for I really feel what you are going through as a Kenyan. God bless you all,” he wrote.
His post sparked a wave of supportive comments from netizens, with many praising his efforts and wishing him a joyous birthday. One user, Rumina Saison, remarked,

Despite the celebratory mood, Owino’s recent political activities have garnered attention as well. He chose not to engage in the ongoing debate regarding the impeachment motion for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, stating his focus remained on more pressing issues affecting his constituents.
“How can I waste my whole day discussing Rigathi yet we have serious issues like Adani, the new university funding model, SHIF, the high cost of living, high taxation, and unemployment? You’ll see me in Parliament when these issues are presented, but they won’t bring them. I was highly engaged with urgent matters affecting my people,” he explained.
Owino emphasized the importance of addressing the nation’s pressing challenges with the same urgency that is applied to impeachment matters. His comments reflect a continued commitment to his constituents, positioning him as a representative focused on tangible solutions rather than political drama.
