The High Court has ordered 11 police officers, linked to the death of Samantha Pendo to appear at Mathari Mental Hospital.
Judge Kanyi Kimondo gave the order after the DPP revealed that the officers had not yet been mentally examined.
According to the Law, all murder suspects undergo a mental examination before being charged.
The officers will take their mental evaluation on Tuesday at 8 a.m. As a result, the judge postponed the plea session to April 5, 2023.
The officers are; Linah Kogey (Inspector and Post Commander, Nyalenda), Mohamed Guyo (Chief Inspector), Titus Yoma (former Commissioner of Police and Retired County Commander), John Masha (GSU Inspector and platoon commander), and Benjamin Koima.
James Rono ( Chief Inspector), Benjamin Loreman( Kenya Prisons Service), Volker Edambo( Inspector, in charge of Crime Kisii) and Cyprine Wankio (Chief Inspector).
The officers will face 40 murder, rape, and torture charges related to the 2017 post-election clashes in Kisumu.
Dozens were killed after the election as violence rocked Nyalenda, Nyamasaria, Kondele, and Obunga.
