Baby Sagini has informed the Kisii Law court that his grandmother Rael Nyakerario Mayaka was behind the plot to gouge out his eyes.
Sagini, who is now under state protection, testified before Kisii Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Christine Ogweno on Friday.
He and his sister Shantel were nearly testifying.
When one of the lawyers requested Sagini to inform her who Ms Mayaka was, the kid stated that he did not want to hear about her.
“Yule alinitoa macho, sitaki kuongea kumhusu,” Sagini added before declining to answer any further questions from the lawyer.
Later, after her brother went missing, their grandmother dispatched Shantel and her brother to gather water from a nearby spring, which she later related to the court. The following day, Sagini was discovered with his eyes gouged, and thrown in a maize farm.
Ms Karimi, a social worker, said before the court that she took up the two kids in December in order to provide them with psychosocial support.
Today’s testimony in court also included Mary Kemunto Makori, one of Sagini’s aunts who was among the family members contacted when he was found.
Three more witnesses for the prosecution must be called before the court. One will testify on March 24 while being protected by the government.
