Barcelona booked their place in the Copa del Rey final after securing a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday, sealing a 5-4 aggregate win in their semi-final clash.
Ferran Torres was the hero for the Catalans, netting the only goal of the match at the Metropolitano to set up a mouth-watering final against arch-rivals Real Madrid later this month.
After a thrilling 4-4 draw in the first leg, the second leg was a much tighter contest. Barcelona started brightly, with Lamine Yamal creating early chances, including a dangerous cross that almost led to a Raphinha goal in the second minute.
The breakthrough came in the 27th minute, when Yamal set Torres through on goal. The forward kept his composure and slotted a low strike past Juan Musso into the bottom-left corner, giving Barcelona a crucial advantage.
Atletico Madrid struggled to respond, failing to register a single shot on target throughout the game.
Alexander Sørloth came closest to equalizing but could only find the side netting early in the second half. Musso later denied Raphinha, and Sørloth thought he had scored, only for his goal to be ruled out for offside.
Despite some late pressure from Diego Simeone’s side, Barcelona held firm to book their ticket to the final in Seville.
The stage is now set for an El Clásico showdown against Real Madrid, as Barcelona chase domestic silverware.
