Deputy Governor Charles Kipng’ok left his Solian home in Eldama Ravine on Wednesday in high spirits and without complaint, according to his wife, Lornah Kipng’ok.
The DG, Charles Kipng’ok, informed her that he was travelling to Nairobi to catch a flight to Mombasa to attend the governor’s induction conference.
Lornah stated that the deceased did not raise any concern over his health as he was in good shape that morning.
“My husband left our Solian home on saying he was heading for Nairobi and was in high spirits. It is saddening that we lost him in such circumstances, yet he had not complained of any sickness,” she stated.
She also thanked Kenyans for their support, stating that she had received numerous goodwill messages from Kenyans since the announcement of the 61-year-old DG’s death.
“It was his day. It was his time and he had done what he was to do on this earth. I ask that you continue to pray for our family,” she added.
Residents and the new county administration were taken aback by his sudden death, which occurred just as he was settling into his new role.
She stated that her husband was heavily involved in the campaign for Governor Benjamin Cheboi and had a lot of plans for the Baringo people once they won the elections.
“We have nothing else to say but we thank God for the years He gave him. He has finished his race,” she stated.
Kipngok died just minutes before a plane he had boarded took off.
According to the aircraft management statement, the 61-year-old developed breathing complications, with medical emergency efforts to assist the newly sworn-in DG proving futile.
“As Kipng’ok was entering the plane, he lost breath and for some reason, he was unable to regain it and passed on,” an excerpt of the statement read.
