A swarm of bees attacked police officers at Mumbuni police station while they were collecting a suspect of stealing.
According to an OB filed at Kathiani Police Station, the OCS, along with duty officers Joshua Oyoo and David Mambo, were on official duty when the tragic incident occurred.
“It happened that when NO. 97392 PC Abraham Otieno of the said post went to open the cell CMM the suspect namely Erick Wambua spilled a stool and urine on him and immediately the bees started attacking the officers as the suspect tried to force his way out trying to escape but the officers persevered the bees and managed to handcuff the suspect,” part of the OB read.
According to the OB, five officers sustained the stings and have sought medication at Kathiani Level IV hospital where they are in stable condition.
The officers include; Robert Nachuma, Douglas Mawera, Joshua Oyoo, David Mambo and Abraham Otieno.
The suspect was also given medication and is currently in cell at Kathiani Police Station pending arraignment in court on Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Machakos.
