Ben Doak Joins Bournemouth as Liverpool’s Transfer Exodus Surpasses £200 Million

Scotland international winger Ben Doak has completed a move from Liverpool to Bournemouth in a deal worth up to £25 million ($34 million), taking the Premier League champions’ player sales this transfer window past the £200 million mark.

The 19-year-old, who joined Liverpool from Celtic for just £600,000 in 2022, made only 10 first-team appearances. Doak impressed during a loan spell at Championship side Middlesbrough and earned six international caps last season. Bournemouth will pay an initial £20 million, with a further £5 million in add-ons, according to the BBC.

“I feel like it’s the right time for me and it’s a great opportunity to play regular football at the highest level. It feels like the perfect fit,” Doak said. “The team play very nice football. It’s fast and it really suits my game, so I felt like I couldn’t say no to the chance to play here.”

Doak follows a wave of departures from Anfield this summer, including Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Caoimhin Kelleher, Jarell Quansah, and Tyler Morton.

The sales have allowed Liverpool to spend around £300 million on reinforcements for Arne Slot’s squad, bringing in Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Giovanni Leoni.

More signings are expected before the transfer window closes in two weeks. Liverpool reportedly rejected a £110 million bid for Newcastle striker Alexander Isak, while Crystal Palace captain Marc Guehi is reportedly close to joining the champions.
