Court Orders IEBC, UDA To Reinstate ‘Rejected’ MCA Nominee

Kericho Senior Resident Magistrate Frederick Nyakundi disqualified Vincent Koskei's nomination and replaced him with Benjamin Koech.

People with disabilities (PWDs) win big after a Court rejected a member’s candidacy in a petition challenging the constitutionality of Assembly nominees.

Kericho Senior Resident Magistrate Frederick Nyakundi disqualified Vincent Koskei’s nomination and replaced him with Benjamin Koech.

“It is hereby ordered that the first and second respondents delete the name of the first interested party and replace it with the third petitioner,” reads the orders.

Koech, together with Beatrice Langat and Evans Kurgat, filed a suit in court on September 19, 2022, to contest the method in which the nomination process was performed.

They said that after applying, they were “surprised” to discover that the final list of finalists did not include any PWD nominees.
