The National Dialogue team has urged House leaders to expedite the drafting of a motion to formally recognize the committee in order to bind its deliberations.
During its first official session, the members resolved to assign the technical committee the role of reviewing the issues raised by both parties and listing them to prioritize key agenda items, as well as assisting the committee in determining how long the talks will take.
Despite great expectations that the Kenya Kwanza and Azimio discussions will begin, a technical committee meeting held prior to the talks failed to reach an agreement on the list of issues.

With some of the issues expected to create bills and maybe a review of the law, the technical committee is expected to collaborate with the parliament’s secretariat to begin its drafting.
The technical committee will meet throughout the week to address preliminary concerns such as the duration of the talks, noting that the Azimio coalition has vowed to resume public protests if a resolution is not achieved by the end of the month.
