In a chilling revelation, political activist Bob Njagi has disclosed harrowing details about his abduction and his encounter with the missing Wajir Member of County Assembly (MCA), Yussuf Hussein Ahmed.
Njagi, who was abducted in August 2023 and held captive for 32 days, claims he saw Ahmed while in captivity, shedding new light on the mysterious disappearance of the MCA.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV on February 5, 2025, Njagi recounted the night of September 13, 2023, when he witnessed a man of Somali origin being brought into the room next to his.
Although he did not recognize the man at the time, Njagi later confirmed through his own research that the individual was Yussuf Hussein Ahmed, the Wajir MCA who has been missing since September 2023.
Njagi, who had been keeping track of dates during his captivity, described the unusual circumstances of Ahmed’s arrival.
“The MCA for Wajir County was actually in the room next to where I was. I had the opportunity to peep through the keyhole and saw him on the night he was brought in—Friday, September 13. I had been keeping dates since the day I was abducted, and I realized someone had been brought in at night, which was not normal,” Njagi recalled.
He added, “He was placed in the room next to me, and I could tell he was a man of Somali origin. Immediately after my release, I did my own research online and realized that on the same day, September 13, there was someone who had been abducted on Enterprise Road. That’s the same man who was brought to where we were.”
Njagi confirmed that Ahmed was still alive during his captivity.
However, after his release, reports emerged that a body matching Ahmed’s description had been found in Lake Yahud, Wajir County, on October 20, 2024.
The discovery initially led to speculation that the MCA had been killed, but DNA analysis conducted by the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) later revealed that the body did not belong to Ahmed.
The MCA’s family, represented by lawyer Danstan Omari, has been relentless in their pursuit of answers. During court proceedings on October 24, 2024, Omari revealed that the DNA results were negative, confirming that the body found was not Ahmed’s. “Results came from the government facility called KEMRI, and the doctor who did that analysis is present here. From the bar, the doctor (Oduor) confirmed that the results were negative,” Omari stated.
Despite a court order issued by High Court Judge Alexander Muteti demanding that Ahmed be produced dead or alive, the MCA’s whereabouts remain unknown nearly five months after his disappearance.
The Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, has denied any police involvement in the matter, leaving the case shrouded in mystery.
Ahmed’s family and friends continue to seek justice, with no clear answers about what happened to him.
Njagi’s revelation now adds a new dimension to the case, highlighting the possibility that Ahmed could still be alive since he was held captive alongside him. However, with no concrete evidence or leads, the search for the missing MCA continues, leaving his family in anguish and the public demanding accountability.
As the investigation unfolds, questions linger about who is behind the abduction and what their motives might be. For now, the mystery of Yussuf Hussein Ahmed’s disappearance remains unresolved.
