A bodaboda rider who was fleeing from traffic police officers, has died after colliding with a trailer in Nairobi’s industrial area.
According to witnesses, the motorbike rider sped off from police officers who wanted to stop him in an ongoing crackdown on bodaboda riders.
The rider was rushed to hospital, where he succumbed to injuries.
The incident has caused an uproar among riders and Kenyans, who have condemned the police for using excesses in administering their duties.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was captured by plain clothed officers and cuffed to his motorbike frame.
The distressed biker alleged he did not see the officers flagging him down but went ahead to his duties.
He was intercepted and placed in handcuffs by officers.
