A Kenyatta University student who went missing over the weekend was discovered dead at her boyfriend’s residence in Kahawa Wendani, Kiambu County.
Victoria Muthoni Theuri, a student of Public Policy and Administration, was last seen on Christmas Eve. She told her parents, who live in Kahawa Sukari, Kiambu county, that she had gone to see her sister that day.
When she did not return home that evening, her parents called her sister to see if she would be sleeping at her house.
However, according to the police, her sister claimed she had not seen her, and the phone was turned off when her parents tried calling her.
Her parents reported the incident to Kahawa Sukari Police Station after she failed to return home on Boxing Day with her phone still turned off.
Reports indicate that she usually spent time at her boyfriend’s apartment at Alvo House before going home after school.
“The boy who lives there was not around and we found it odd that there was a bad smell coming out of the house. “It smelled like something had died inside the locked house,” a neighbor commented.
The case was immediately reported to the Kahawa Sukari Police Station by the caretaker.
On Thursday, police went to the house and, with the assistance of welders, broke down the door. Victoria’s body was discovered in the sitting room with no physical injuries.
The boyfriend, who had gone to his rural home, was quickly apprehended. He was taken to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters in Ruiru sub-county for questioning.
The boyfriend however said that he left Victoria at his house on Christmas Day and proceeded to his parent’s residence.
