Police in Kiprichait, Bomet County, are investigating an incident in which the lifeless body of a 70-year-old man was found in his home, with deep cuts on the neck and shoulder.
Residents believe that the victim, a father of seven, was brutally murdered by one of his sons over a land dispute.
According to village elder Robert Mutai, the deceased returned to his hometown of Bomet after spending some time in Narok County, which appears to have irritated one of his sons.
“Following the murder, his son, who is the prime suspect, didn’t open his shop as usual and also didn’t come to his father’s residence despite villagers raising alarm over the heinous act. We restrained an irate mob who wanted to go and break into his shop in the nearest kipisarwet trading center ” Mutai said.
The body of the deceased has since been moved to Longisa Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue.
