The Borana Council of elders have officially endorsed Governor Mohamud M Ali to defend his seat in the upcoming 2022 general election.
140 elders drawn from Saku, Sololo, Moyale and Nairobi who are members of Borana Council of Elders (BCE) gave the Governor a go ahead to defend his seat after one week of deliberations.
This coronation means that Borana community will now officially recognise Governor Mohamud as they’re sole aspirant.
He was also mandated to approach other ethnic communities and form a formidable alliance that ensures his bid will be successful.
The endorsement was necessitated by the fact that Governor deserves a second term to accomplish many projects and programmes he has initiated.

The elders declared that out of the four gubernatorial aspirants from the Borana community who have declared interest in governorship, only Governor Mohamud Ali espouses the interest of the larger people of Marsabit county.
The elders lauded the governor for his policy of inclusion and proportional distribution of appointments and projects across the four sub counties, adding that, they are resolute to help in the actualisation of the governor’s quest for a second term.
They expressed confidence in the Governor and urged the people of Marsabit county to give him their maximum supports and cooperation saying the county is not only in God’s hands, but also in a reliable, tested and safe hand of Governor Mohamud M Ali.

The group challenged the governor to see his endorsement as a call to provide even more transformational leadership to Marsabit County rather than a victory over his opponents.
Gov Ali thanked the council of elders for their solidarity, prayers and endorsement attributing his endorsement as a challenge to do more for the people.
The governor noted that such endorsement “certainly carries a lot of weight and therefore, cannot be taken for granted”.
The grand meeting was also attended by Saku Member of Parliament Hon. Dido Ali Raso, Isiolo Woman Representative Hon. Rehema Jaldesa, Bura Member of Parliament Ali Wario, County Secretary Mr. Ibrahim Adan Sora, CECM’s and CO’s
