Boy Knocked Down By Motorist Along Enterprise Road

Traffic at the Enterprise-Likoni Road interchange came to a near standstill this afternoon after a pedestrian was struck by a speeding car on Monday afternoon.

The victim, who was reportedly attempting to cross at an unauthorized point less than ten meters from a designated traffic stop, sustained injuries from the impact and subsequent fall.

Motorists slowed down as the scene drew attention, compounding congestion already affecting the busy corridor. The traffic jam worsened as many drivers diverted from Jogoo Road, where protesters were reportedly stoning vehicles in anger over the demolition of roadside stalls earlier in the day.

Emergency responders and police officers arrived at the scene to control traffic and attend to the injured pedestrian, who was later rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Kenya continues to record alarming numbers of pedestrian-related accidents, with authorities blaming most incidents on illegal road crossings and failure to observe traffic rules. According to road safety experts, pedestrian fatalities account for a majority of road accident deaths nationwide.

The government has renewed its campaign to reduce road carnage through stricter enforcement, public awareness, and improved pedestrian infrastructure in major urban areas.
