Brave Uzalendo predicted Sakaja arrest

By Faith Mutete

On Saturday, Uzalendo News tweeted Police were investigating Nairobi Senator Johnston Sakaja over curfew and causing disturbance allegations. The foul-mouthed Senator is now in real trouble. He is set to be charged in a City Court for a crime he could have avoided, had he taken a glass of water at 1 AM on Saturday, and left for his house as requested by police. And now Nairobi County will be led by a Governor and a Senator both facing criminal charges.

Sadly for Nairobi County, its top leaders could soon be jaileD, if police find them culpable over the allegations facing them. Governor Sonko is facing graft charges while Sakaja is being ashamed for breaking curfew and exposing his voters to COVID-19 infections by refusing to wear a mask.

The Senator was captured on camera in public without a mask, his saliva droplets flying in the air while issuing threats to junior police officers on duty at Kilimani Police Station. He also did not keep the mandatory social distance. Neither did he sanitize or wash his hands. Sakaja even misused social media to intimidate his voters claiming that he has never been arrested.

The lie on camera is upfront to Chapter 6. The Senator forgot that being ‘asked’ to accompany a police officer to a station amounts to arrest whether one is locked in or not. The situation now leaves Nairobi voters with a really bad taste in the mouth. Sakaja purports to be a buddy and close associate of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Unfortunately, Uhuru no longer picks calls from suspects be they chicken thieves, burglary suspects, drunkards name them. Sakaja’s silly antics on Friday night will cost him whatever little respect the head of state had for him. He, like a few remaining fixated politicians, appeared impervious to the mood in the country he has paid dearly. He forgot that a police constable on duty and worse in uniform can bring down any career other than that of the President.

Now he knows. Sakaja is now singing the blues despite purporting to be a champion for COVID-19 war. Credit to Sakaja, though. He has apologized and maybe vindicated by voters once the court process is over.
