Brighton To Play European Football For The First Time

Brighton & Hove Albion secured their place in Europe next season after beating Southampton 3-1 in the Premier League.

Evan Ferguson scored twice, and Mitoma’s individual brilliance doubled the advantage 10 minutes later.

Brighton are sixth in the standings and can no longer be caught by Tottenham Hotspur, meaning they are guaranteed a spot in Europe next season.

Mohamed Elyounoussi pulled one back for Southampton in the 58th minute, but Theo Walcott had a goal disallowed for offside.

Pascal Gross cut inside and fired a low shot past two defenders, but McCarthy made an excellent save to deny Gross’s low shot.

Bottom club Southampton remain on 24 points. Manager Ruben Selles praised his players for creating opportunities.
