A BBC investigation has found that Jeffrey Epstein’s private aircraft landed in and departed from UK airports on nearly 90 flights. Some of these flights carried British women who now allege they were abused by the late financier.
The investigation has identified three British women—who claim they were trafficked by Epstein—in his flight records and other related documents.
US lawyers representing hundreds of Epstein’s victims described the findings as “shocking” and criticized the lack of a “full-scale UK investigation” into his activities. One lawyer called the UK a “centerpiece” of Epstein’s operations.
Testimony from one of these British victims, referred to as “Kate” in court, was instrumental in convicting Epstein’s accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, of child sex-trafficking in the US in 2021.
However, according to her Florida-based lawyer Brad Edwards, “Kate” has never been contacted by UK police. Flight records show she was listed on more than 10 of Epstein’s UK flights between 1999 and 2006.
US attorney Sigrid McCawley stated that British authorities have “not taken a closer look at those flights, at where he was at, who he was seeing at those moments, and who was with him on those planes, and conducted a full investigation.”
