British Firm To Redesign Nairobi Railway Station

    The Nairobi Railway City Central Station (NRCCS) design contract was signed today by Kenya Railways and WS Atkins International Limited, launching the process towards the realisation of this landmark project, in the presence of the CS, Ministry of Roads and Transport, Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen E.G.H.

    As a critical hub of the Nairobi Commuter Rail network with a peak hour capacity of 30,000 passengers, the Central Station will be a crucial component in the transformation of urban mobility in the Nairobi Metropolitan area.

    This confirms the commitment of the Kenyan government to completing the Nairobi Railway City project.

    The complex designs are anticipated to be finished by the end of the year.

    Major renovations are anticipated to begin at the Central Station in January 2024.

    Also present were PS State Department for Transport, Mr. Mohamed Daghar, Kenya Railways MD. Philip J. Mainga EBS, British High Commission representative, Mark Povey, WS Atkins International Limited Client Director, Philip Dowrick, and KR senior management.
