Bungoma County Governor Kenneth Lusaka has announced a sweeping reorganization of its executive arm, with all senior officials dismissed in a move aimed at restructuring governance and improving service delivery.
In a statement dated April 9, 2026, Lusaka confirmed that the changes affect the entire County Executive Committee, as well as the County Attorney and the County Secretary.
“The Office of the Governor wishes to inform the public that, in the exercise of the constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and service delivery, the Governor has undertaken a reorganization of the County Executive,” the statement read.
According to the statement, the decision was undertaken under the Governor’s constitutional mandate to ensure effective governance and was executed in line with Section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act.
“Accordingly, subject to section 40(1)(a) of the County Government Act, all Members of the County Executive Committee, the County Attorney, and the County Secretary have been relieved of their duties with immediate effect,” the statement read.
“This decision has been taken in good faith and in the broader public interest,” the statement read. “It is aimed at facilitating the efficient functioning of the County Government and upholding the integrity of its institutions.”
Despite the abrupt overhaul, the county government assured residents that measures have been put in place to ensure continuity of services, with no disruption expected in the delivery of essential services.
The governor also indicated that further communication regarding interim arrangements and new appointments would be made in due course, in line with legal requirements.
Governor Lusaka expressed appreciation for the service rendered by the outgoing officials and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to constitutionalism, the rule of law, and due process.
The unexpected move marks one of the most significant administrative changes in Bungoma County in recent years and is likely to have far-reaching implications for the region’s governance.
