Bungoma governor Wangamati early Chrismas gift to People with Disability

Hundreds of people living with severe disabilities across Bungoma county have been handed early Christmas packages by Governor Wycliffe Wangamati, at Mabanga FTC, as the county joins the world to mark the day for people living with disabilities.

Wangamati said People living with Disabilities will be at the center of operations and Administration of Bungoma county. He added that the current and future budgets to finance a number of initiatives that will be factored in so that issues of disability mainstreaming are fully catered for.

“Already, PLWDs, Women and the Youth have been offered access to at least 50% of tender opportunities by my administration, and I want to assure you that PLWDs will be considered for the recently advertised Jobs for Village Administrators ”. Governor Wangamati said.

The representative for people living with disabilities in the Bungoma, Adrian Sakwa, thanked the Governor for presiding over the celebrations and assured Wangamati for their political Support and help in building the economy of Bungoma.

“We assure you of our political Support, we will help you build the economy of Bungoma. On BBI we wish to recommend that we be allowed as disability people to be nominating our own people to Parliament, we don’t want nominations done through political parties. Nothing about us without us,” said Adrian Sakwa.

On her side, the CECM gender, Everlyne Kaikai,
said that her department is committed to ensure PLWDs are empowered socially and economically through the provision necessary support that will improve their standard of lives.
