Police officers in Bungoma county arrested three people after they allegedly attacked and murdered 62-year-old Edward Barasa, a medical military police officer in the rank of warrant officer 1 attached to Moi air base barracks.
According to Mwita Marwa, OCPD Kimilili police station, a brawl broke out in a chang’aa den in Maeni village, where rowdy youths who were drinking with him attacked and fought him, hitting him with a wood stick.
He succumbed to his injuries before reaching Kimilili sub-county hospital for treatment due to deep cuts on the head and his left hand.
Marwa has warned people not to take the law into their own hands and to let it take its course whenever disagreements arise.
He stated that those involved in crime would be dealt with harshly. The police investigation is still ongoing.
