The inspection of governorship ballot boxes from ten Busia County polling stations has officially begun at the Busia offices of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The exercise was ordered by Justice David Kenei in the petition challenging Busia County Governor Paul Otuoma’s victory.
It is being carried out by the deputy registrar of the Busia High Court under the supervision of the petitioner in the case, John Bunyasi, his lawyers led by Katwa Kigen, his two agents, and the defendants’ lawyers.
The first box to be checked was for Busia Township Primary School where Bunyasi in his case alleged fraud.
Some of the factors being looked at include whether the boxes are in good condition, whether the ballot papers and result forms are inside, the ballots themselves, and the book copying events at the Polling Station Diary (PSD).
