A Nairobi County car dealer was today arraigned court where he was charged with obtaining millions of money using fraudulent tricks.
Kenneth Njiru Njagi who allegedly currently works with UK Auto Imports Limited formerly Kensville Motors Limited is accused of defrauding Todd Ashton Ksh 9.8M pretending to be able to facilitate his importation of a motor vehicle.
According to the prosecution, Kenneth on diverse dates between August 1, 2023 and September 30, 2024, by means of fraudulent tricks induced Todd Ashton to pay him a sum of Ksh 9,891,916 for the import of a motor vehicle which he failed to deliver.
He appeared before Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina at Milimani Law Courts in Nairobi and denied the charges.
His defence lawyer pleaded with the court to release him on lenient bond terms saying that the offence is more of civil in nature rather than a criminal case.
The court released him on a bond of Ksh 2m with an alternative cash bail of Ksh 1M.
The case will proceed on March 17, 2025.
