Properties belonging to businessman Honey Khatwani, currently facing charges over an alleged KSh 356 million fraud, were today auctioned at his go-downs in Baba Dogo following a court order authorizing distress for rent.
The auction, carried out by Siuma Auctioneers, was supervised by officers from Parklands and Ruaraka police stations as directed by the Milimani Commercial Courts.
The exercise stems from a dispute between Galaxy Middle East & Africa Limited — trading as Smart Pro (Your Trust, Our Mission) — and its landlords, Oki General Trading Kenya Limited.
In a ruling delivered on 15th August 2025, Senior Principal Magistrate Lucy Njora ordered the auction of Khatwani’s movable properties to recover outstanding rent arrears under case number MCCCMISC/E2036/2025.
“This court issues an order that the police officers in charge of Parklands and Ruaraka police stations supervise execution of the distress,”the ruling stated
Khatwani and his company were directed to settle a decretal sum of USD 2,799,632.99 (approximately KSh 356 million) in favour of the landlords, failure to which the auctioneer was empowered to attach and sell movable assets to offset the debt.
The penal notice attached to the ruling warned that any non-compliance with the court’s orders would attract legal consequences.
Today’s auction marks a significant escalation in Khatwani’s legal troubles, coming as he also faces separate criminal fraud charges involving the same amount.
Honey Khatwani, a director at OKI General Trading Limited, appeared before Milimani Principal Magistrate Dolphina Alego in Nairobi, where he was charged with stealing $2,786,174.40 (approximately Ksh.356,711,174.40).
The alleged offence occurred between January 1, 2020, and June 30, 2024, at Barbado within Nairobi County.
The court heard that the funds belonged to OKI General Trading Limited and were allegedly stolen by Khatwani in his capacity as a company director.
