Businessman Slapped With 23 Year Jail Term After Gun Drama

Tom Mboya, a Nairobi businessman, was sentenced to 23 years in prison without the possibility of a fine for shooting Ranalo Foods Restaurant owner William Osewe in December 2016.

The evidence presented by the prosecution against Mboya was “overwhelming,” according to Milimani Chief Magistrate Martha Mutuku.

The inmate, who runs a travel company, was accused of attempted murder.

On December 1, 2016, while at Roasters Inn on Thika Road, Mboya took his revolver and shot Osewe in the chest and stomach, seriously injuring him, according to the court.

Mboya was found guilty of attempted murder and wounding on two counts.

The offender was not in court for sentencing on Wednesday, October 6, because his lawyers notified Magistrate Mutuku that their client, who had been remanded at the Industrial Area Prison, was ill.

On September 28, 2021, Mboya was found guilty of attempted murder and injury.
