Businesswoman charged with forging grant title to illegally acquire Karen land worth Ksh 50 M

A businesswoman was today arraigned in Court and charged with forging a grant title intending to illegally acquire Karen land valued at Ksh 50 Million.

Evangeline Nyawira Muriuki appeared before Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina and denied the charges of forging a title deed on May 16, 2016.

She is accused of forging the land document jointly with others yet to be arrested, with intent to defraud Mary Magdalina Njeri of her parcel of land LR NO.13726. IR 79416, made a certain false document namely a grant title IR 79416, LR NO. 13726.

It is alleged that the land that Nyawira had intended to grab is situated in Karen Brooks area and measures approximately 0.2024ha, alued approximately at Sh 50,000,000.

The court heard that the accused person made the false grant title with a second entry being a transfer to herself purporting it to be a genuine transfer registered by Edwin Munoko Wafula, the then land registrar at Nairobi land registry.

She faces another charge of Uttering a false document through her lawyer Bonface Njiru at the DCI Headquarters to a police officer alleging that the grant title belongs to her.

She was released on a cash bail of Sh 200,000.
