CAF Delegation Begins Final Inspections in Kenya Ahead of CHAN 2025

A high-level delegation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has arrived in Kenya for final stakeholder workshops and critical inspections ahead of the 2025 African Nations Championship (CHAN), which will be co-hosted by Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania next month.

The CAF team began its Kenyan leg of the tour on Thursday, with inspections scheduled to run through July 6. The focus is on evaluating Kenya’s readiness to co-host the tournament, with key visits to the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani and Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Inspections will assess core operational areas including broadcasting infrastructure, safety and security protocols, transportation logistics, training facilities, team accommodation, and airport readiness.

At a parallel meeting, Interior Ministry Principal Secretary Dr. Raymond Omollo met with the CHAN-AFCON Multi-Agency Team (CHAN-AFCON MAT) and the Project Oversight Council to discuss Kenya’s ongoing preparations.

“I shared progress on the safety and security planning process and ongoing consultations, reaffirming our commitment to ensuring that Kenya delivers a world-class, secure, and well-coordinated CHAN 2025 tournament,” Omollo said in a post on X.

The strategic session brought together senior officials from multiple government ministries and agencies to review Kenya’s preparedness in infrastructure, hospitality, and inter-agency coordination.

Following the Kenyan visit, the CAF delegation will travel to Zanzibar (July 6–7), Dar es Salaam, Tanzania (July 8–9), and Kampala, Uganda (July 9–10) for similar inspections.

The 2025 CHAN tournament will kick off on August 2 at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Tanzania, with Kenya set to host the final at Kasarani Stadium.

This visit is also a key milestone in the broader Pamoja Initiative, as the region collectively gears up for the AFCON 2027, positioning East Africa as a rising hub for top-tier continental football.
