Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has drawn attention to what he describes as the reversal of fortune facing former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, highlighting the dangers of power and the consequences of state-backed actions.
In a statement shared on X on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, Amisi recalled how Gachagua had previously supported government operations that targeted opposition figures and protesters, framing today’s events as a striking turn of events.
Amisi reflected on Gachagua’s past involvement in enforcing state authority against political opponents.
“Those in government and plotting against us; Just remember, less than two years ago, Rigathi Gachagua was on the same side with Ruto killing our people on the streets, teargasing baba and Azimio brigade and sending warnings,” Amisi said.

He noted the current situation where Gachagua is now on the receiving end of the same aggressive tactics he once endorsed, underscoring the unpredictability of political power.
“Now, Gachagua is testing bullets and running helter-skelter around the streets from the same government, and we show no mercy for him,” Amisi added.
Amisi used the example to caution others in government who may believe their positions shield them from accountability, framing power as temporary and the consequences as inevitable.
“It will one day be your turn, and you will have no one left to fight for you! It is transient!” he said.
Gachagua was teargassed during a church service in Othaya
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua was attacked during a church service in Othaya ACK, Nyeri County, on Sunday, January 25, 2026, by unknown people.

The churchgoers were settled until teargas smoke suddenly sneaked into what was supposed to be a solemn ceremony, where the former deputy head of state was to address the congregants after the service.
There was sudden jostling in the church as members sought shelter, with some requesting water to wash the affected eyes, while others were taken outside the building where the melee seemed to have emanated from.
