Carlsberg creates ‘world’s smallest’ bottle of alcohol-free beer

Carlsberg has created a 12 milimetre-tall bottle of alcohol-free lager in a bid to create the world’s smallest beverage of its kind.

The bottle also contains 0.005 centilitres of non-alcoholic beer, the company said.

“To put that into context, that’s the size of a grain of rice and the amount of a drop of beer,” said Casper Danielsson, director of corporate affairs at Carlsberg Sweden.

The minuscule bottle was mouth-blown by a specialist glassworker and then decorated by a miniature artist to add Carlsberg’s signature logo.

Danielsson said the aim of the project was to create a “light-hearted icebreaker” for a more serious discussion on responsible drinking.

The miniature beer is the smallest of its kind in the world according to Danielsson, who said the brewer had researched other attempts and had not found anything similar.

However, Carlsberg is organising a contest in Stockholm open to university students from across Sweden to come up with an even smaller bottle of beer.
