Carrefour Launches Retail Business School in Nairobi to Upskill Over 1000 Youths Yearly

Majid Al Futtaim, the operator of Carrefour in Kenya, has taken a significant step toward empowering local youth by opening its first Retail Business School in Nairobi.

Located at Two Rivers Mall, this initiative is set to upskill over 1,500 employees annually and aims to cultivate the next generation of retail leaders in the region.

The new institution will offer 12 specialized programs focusing on essential areas such as customer experience, leadership, technical operations, and digital transformation.

By combining theoretical knowledge with practical learning, the school seeks to address the evolving demands of the retail industry while directly impacting jobless youth. The programs are designed to equip participants with relevant skills, enhancing their employability in a competitive market.

Gunther Helm, CEO of Majid Al Futtaim Retail, emphasized the company’s commitment to local talent development, stating, “This reflects our dedication to empowering talent and contributing to Kenya’s economic growth.”

The introduction of advanced technologies within the curriculum, including digital libraries and paperless classrooms, further prepares employees for the dynamic retail landscape.

This initiative follows the success of similar schools in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, as Carrefour aligns its efforts with broader goals of driving social and economic transformation through sustainability and skill development.
