The trial of former Dandora Police Station OCS and an inspector charged with aiding a prisoner from custody has been adjourned to December 2024.
OCS Samir Yunus and Inspector Amos Odhiambo appeared before Milimani Principal magistrate Gilbert Shikwe for a fresh hearing of the case.
However, the case could not proceed as the prosecution told court that the counsel handling the matter was away for an official duty.
“Your honour, we are seeking for an adjournment as the prosecution counsel who is with the case, is away for a training”, the court was told.
Magistrate Shikwe however, noted that the case is old and needs to be heard.
He directed the case to be heard on December 6.
According to the charge sheet, on April 12, 2022 at Pangani police station, the two aided a prisoner Hussein Mumin Hassan to escape from lawful custody.
Reportedly, Hassan had been imprisoned for two months before thereafter getting deported from the country.
The suspect had been accused of being in the country illegally.
Hassan had just served for eight days.
