Kenya Broadcasting Corporation Managing Director Samuel Maina has confirmed the death of Catherine Kasavuli, Catherine Kasavuli.
The veteran journalist and prime time news anchor, died after battling with cervical cancer for years.
She was admitted to Kenyatta National Hospital in late October where colleagues and friends in the media industry rallied to donate blood for an urgent transfusion.
Following her death, colleagues in the media expressed their condolences and praised her as a veteran journalist who has left a void in the industry.
Ms Kasavuli has previously assisted many people seeking medical treatment in her personal capacity.
She planned to use her social media platforms to rally Kenyans to raise funds for patients in need of immediate medical attention. The most recent case involved a baby born with a congenital abnormality.
Ms Kasavuli, also known as the TV queen, has been a prominent figure in Kenyan media since the 1980s.
She was one of the first anchors to host a live television program for a privately held TV station in the 1990s before retiring in 2015.
Ms Kasavuli returned to KBC in 2020, hosting the Legend Edition show every weekend.
