Catholic Faithful today commemorated the founder of the Order of John Don Bosco at Upper Hill Shrine. – By Meshack Makau.
John Don Bosco dedicated his entire life to teach the youth on live skills and values, within the dogma of the Catholic Church.
The Saint was specially inspired by Holy Mary, the Mother of Jesus.
It is believed that he constantly devoted himself to Marian teaching, and obtained many graces as a result of the Devotion.
He is the founder of the Selesians of Don Bosco and the Patron Saint of the order.
The work of St. John Bosco reforming young boys wasn’t highly regarded by many and in fact, Bosco’s life was openly threatened on multiple occasions.
Today, there are nearly 16,000 SDB brothers and priests, plus an affiliate order of more than 16,000 nuns worldwide, the Daughters of Mary, Help of Christians.
All are inspired by St. John’s holiness, purity and charity, which also manifested in miracles, prophecies, and wisdom
In Kenya, the Selesians of Don Bosco run the Bosco Boys, Makuyu Boys among others.
