The Catholic Diocese of Kitui has launched its Diocesan Pastoral Strategic Plan for the year 2024 – 2028 with the theme “A call to Mission and Self reliance”.
The launch has been done in a colourful ceremony presided over by His Lordship Rt. Rev. Joseph Mwongela at St. Joseph’s Junior Seminary Mwingi where the Diocese had visited the Seminary with an aim of supporting the School.
The Strategic Plan is structured around five key pillars: Evangelization and Sacraments, Charity, Self-Reliance and Sustainability, Socioeconomic Empowerment (Education and Health), and Institutional Capacity Strengthening.
In his message, Bishop Mwongela has emphasized the core values of compassion, unity, and collaboration, urging all the faithful to embrace the spirit of helping each other and working together towards common goals.
“Let us embrace the spirit of helping each other, finding joy in our endeavors, and uniting in our efforts to build a better future,” said the bishop “If you dream about a good dream, have the courage to actualize it and find happiness in your achievements.”
Bishop Mwongela has further called upon the faithful to lend their support to St. Joseph’s Seminary, recognizing its pivotal role in the intersection of education and Christianity. He expressed heartfelt appreciation for the mentors who have dedicated themselves to shaping the minds and hearts of the students from the Seminary, instilling in them the values of faith, knowledge, and service.
Highlighting the importance of collective action, bishop Mwongela announced a new initiative, urging each parish to sponsor at least one student per year at St. Joseph’s Seminary. “Together, we can bring about transformation and be a beacon of light to many families,” he said.
Bishop Mwongela has advised the students to be well behaved and focussed in their studies. “It’s my prayers that none of you will be a threat to society. Instead, I hope you make your families happy and bring joy wherever you go.”
During the same event 76 Confirmands received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
St. Joseph’s Seminary Rector, Rev. Fr. Paul Mutemi has appreciated all the people for the support and love which they have shown to the school.
The colourful celebration and visit has culminated in the contribution of various food stuffs and funds in support of St. Joseph’s Seminary.
